Latest News

August 2021.  We are delighted to be able to meet once again inside the Village Hall.  Our next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Monday 9 August when we will be joined by members from our twinned WI, Wythall.  Our speaker will be Dr Kate Round on the subject of The History of Stourbridge Glass.  Light refreshments will be available and the competition will be ‘a glass item’.

Lucy Hingley Grave

Lucy Hingley started the WI in Salwarpe and was Worcestershire County Chairman from 1920-1931.  She died in 1942 and she and 5 other members of her family are buried in Salwarpe Churchyard.  The graves had become very overgrown, so at Salwarpe WI’s instigation, WFWI has paid to have them cleared. We at Salwarpe WI have paid for (and Committee members have put in place) 20 bags of new stones to cover the 6 graves.
