Latest News

Salwarpe WI will be hosting the autumn Corbett Group meeting (postponed from October last year) at the Village Hall at 7pm on Monday 25 October 2021 when we hope to welcome members from the other WIs in the Group: Crowle, Cutnall Green, Fernhill Heath, Himbleton, Sparkles and Witton.

There will be a business meeting including input from our WI Adviser and a Trustee of the WFWI, followed by a talk on UK Brass Bands by Robert Morgan and social time with refreshments, raffle and quiz. Cost £6 per head.

Lucy Hingley Grave

Lucy Hingley started the WI in Salwarpe and was Worcestershire County Chairman from 1920-1931.  She died in 1942 and she and 5 other members of her family are buried in Salwarpe Churchyard.  The graves had become very overgrown, so at Salwarpe WI’s instigation, WFWI has paid to have them cleared. We at Salwarpe WI have paid for (and Committee members have put in place) 20 bags of new stones to cover the 6 graves.

Update : Sadly weeds have returned and there is now a molehill problem, so further action will be required.
